Back home after a break at technical service Walkro
Roland Voesten is back in his place at Walkro. Again, because after nine years of loyal service, the all-round mechanic thought it was time for something else. "I didn't want to spend my whole life only working for one company, but wanted to discover what else the world had to offer." After working elsewhere for nine years, Roland still came "home" to Walkro. He has since enjoyed working here for six years.
Brand new
When Roland started at Walkro years ago, he ended up in a brand-new factory. He rolled into Walkro via via. "At the time, that location was still being set up. It was very nice to help start that one up. I learnt a huge amount from that." Yet after nine years, Roland decided it was time for something else. "I wanted to have a look at another company to see how things were going there. But I never left Walkro with a bad feeling."
"Walkro is like a big family, which is why it felt like coming home again. There is a warm atmosphere and a lot of freedom to fill in the work yourself." - Roland Voesten
Back home again
That Roland left Walkro on a good note at the time is evidenced by the fact that he returned there after nine years. "In the company where I was working, changes were taking place that I could not agree with. The choice to go back to Walkro was very easy: I knew where I was heading."
That was a warm bath. Colleagues from before welcomed him back. "I could immediately start working as an all-round maintenance engineer. Because I already knew the company and its working methods, it was easy for me to return. Of course, technology is constantly changing, but I keep brushing up my knowledge."

Learn a lot, do a lot
By now, you could say that Roland knows his trade inside out. But he is still learning every day. "Walkro encourages further training on new techniques. I would like to do another drawing course. That will be arranged right away. I also learn a lot by doing the work. I like to keep finding out how new techniques work. I get the space for that here."
At Walkro, you learn by doing, from courses, but also from each other. "I like to take new colleagues in tow. I like to teach them the tricks of the trade and enthuse them about the work. Someone coming in here for the first time might think it's dirty work. But if you pierce through that, the work is wonderful. And a side benefit is that you always go home showered clean."
