From manure to a new raw material

What may be a by-product for you is a key raw material for us.
At Walkro, we process horse and poultry manure into compost that is used in mushroom cultivation. We have been doing this for decades, in partnership with hundreds of horse and poultry farmers in the Netherlands and Belgium.

We not only handle the processing, but also the collection and removal of the manure – in a way that works practically and reliably for you.

Working with Walkro

Walkro handles the collection, transport and administrative processing of manure. We work with a large number of horse and poultry farmers in the Netherlands and Belgium.

We provide:

Horse manure sales

We collect horse manure from, amongst others:

  • riding schools
  • stud farms
  • horse stables
  • racecourses

We have our own fleet of lorries fitted with loading cranes. We use these to load the manure on site. Collection takes place by prior arrangement.

Requirements for horse manure

The following conditions apply for the processing of the manure:

  • The manure is rich in straw (preferably wheat straw)
  • The manure is no more than 3 weeks old
  • The manure comes from at least around 15 horses
  • The site is easily accessible for our lorries

Poultry manure sales

We collect poultry manure, mainly from broiler farmers in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Terms and conditions for poultry manure

  • The manure contains bedding materials such as wood shavings, peat or peat moss
  • The loading time is arranged in good time
  • Loading is preferably carried out using a telehandler

Collection is scheduled to coincide with when the stable becomes available. Walkro arranges transport and further processing of the manure.

Administration and regulations

Walkro handles the administrative procedures associated with the transport of manure, such as animal manure transport certificates (VDM) and manure disposal documents (MAD in Belgium). Everything is arranged in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.
